About the profiles
iPodME offers 6 predefined profiles : 3 different encoding speed, each with both quality or size option.
- quality optimize the result for the best quality (resulting in bigger files)
- size optimize the result for the best quality/size ratio (resulting in smaller files)
Choosing a slower profile will result in a longer encoding time, but will also provide a better quality and (often) smaller file size.
Using subtitles
In order to use the subtitles option, you need to install AviSynth.
Then, put the the .srt subtitle file in the same folder as your video, and name it after your video, eg. video.avi => video.srt
Advanced options
- Use DirectShow codecs : instead of using internal ffmpeg's codec, use the ones of your system. Need AviSynth to be installed. If your video can't be converted because ffmpeg can't decode it (like for .rm and .rmvb files), you may want to try this option.
- Shutdown when finished : once the conversion of all the video files in the list is finished, shutdown the computer.
- Process priority : change the priority of the encoder's process, allocating more or less CPU time for it.
Troubleshooting
- The program crashes or won't load :
Install the latest version of the Microsoft .NET Framework.
- When using subtitles, the output video have no video/sound or don't work at all :
If you have installed VobSub, try putting the latest version of vsfilter.dll (unicode version) in your windows\system32 folder.
- I have strange error messages when trying to convert a video or ffmpeg says that it could not render one of the streams :
Click more options then check Use DirectShow codecs. Don't forget to have AviSynth installed if you use this option.
