iPodME Help

About the profiles
iPodME offers 6 predefined profiles : 3 different encoding speed, each with both quality or size option.
- quality optimize the result for the best quality (resulting in bigger files)
- size optimize the result for the best quality/size ratio (resulting in smaller files)
Choosing a slower profile will result in a longer encoding time, but will also provide a better quality and most of the time smaller file size.
If you want to customize further the encoding parameters, then use the profile custom. New options will appear allowing you to define your own audio and video encoding parameters.
Adding subtitles
The new soft-subtitles feature will automatically add to the video files any subtitles related. You will then be able to enable or disable them on your iPod or iPhone device.
Please note that soft-subtitles may not be supported on some old iPod models.
In order to be added automatically, the subtitles must be in ".srt" format, have the same name as the video files and be in the same folder. They also may contain a language code suffix. Multiple subtitles per video file are also supported.
Example :
If you have a video named "video.avi", you can have subtitles named "video.fr.srt", "video.en.srt" and "video.srt" for french and english languages, the language code being undetermined for the last one.
Advanced options
Clicking the "More options" button will bring you some advanced options :
- Stretch video to fit size : expand the video to the chosen size, but alter the aspect ratio of the video.
- Shutdown when finished : once the conversion of all the video files in the list is finished, shutdown the computer.
- Process priority : change the priority of the encoder's process, allocating more or less CPU time for it.
- Output folder : the folder where the converted files will go. You can change it by clicking the "..." button.
Troubleshooting
- The program crashes or won't load :
Install the latest version of the Microsoft .NET Framework.
- Where are the converted files ?
By default, iPodME use its own location as the ouput folder. But you can change it the the Advanced Options.
- I can't see subtitles on my iPod :
In order to see the subtitles, you need to enable them on you iPod. Check the manual to find how to do it.
If your iPod model does not support subtitles, then use iPodME version 1.2 to burn them into the video.
- I have strange error messages when trying to convert a video or ffmpeg says that it could not render one of the streams :
Your video format is maybe not supported by iPodME.
